When? April 12 - 15, 2010

Concert bands will be scheduled for 2 days (you may elect to stay longer), Class 2 and 3 concert bands should select the 20 minute slots available and more senior groups (Class 4-6) should select the 30 minute slots. These are available throughout the day. jazz ensembles are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday (April 14/15) and choirs can perform Wednesday or Thursday (April 14/15) - however vocal masterclasses and the mandatory mass choir are scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and evening.

For concert bands, Day one will include your performance at the Hammerson Hall, attendance in the hall to hear other participating ensembles and an evening concert

Day two (on an area University campus) will include a 50-minute band clinic as well 50-minute instrumental workshops and noon hour recital. The evening features another free concert at Hammerson Hall.

FOR CONCERT BANDS AND WIND ENSEMBLES

Monday, April 12 AT HAMMERSON HALL, LIVING ARTS CENTRE

For all classes of concert bands, if unsure of your Class, review the "Required Selections" section to determine the repertoire suitable for your ensemble and sign up for the appropriate section. Class 2/3 bands are allocated a maximum of 20 minutes and Class 4/5/6 bands a maximum of 30 minutes on the Hammerson stage to set up and perform (setup takes no longer than 3 or 4 minutes as the staff of professionals work very quickly). Performances on the Hammerson stage commence at 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. An evening performance features the renowned Eastman Wind Ensemble and some special guest soloists!

. . . then your 2nd day is Tuesday, April 13 AT AN AREA UNIVERSITY. All of the ensembles THAT PERFORMED on Monday at Hammerson Hall will assemble at an area University for a day of master classes and workshops.

Tuesday, April 13 AT HAMMERSON HALL, LIVING ARTS CENTRE

FOR JAZZ ENSEMBLES

All jazz ensembles will be scheduled for 30 minute performances (this includes your set-up as well) - - Performances will be followed immediately by a one hour workshop with one of the adjudicators. Most jazz sessions can be coordinated so that all activities for your concert band continue normally at the University.

FOR CONCERT CHOIRS

Wednesday, April 14, HAMMERSON HALL, LIVING ARTS CENTRE

All choirs should expect to arrive by 2:45 p.m. at the Living Arts Centre for vocal masterclasses. The Mass Choir will commence rehearsals at 4pm for their evening performance. The rehearsal repertoire will be determined in the fall and posted online. Rehearsals will commence on the 2nd floor foyer for female voices and the 3rd floor foyer for male voices. Sectionals will later be combined in the Rehearsal Room of the Living Arts Centre and then on stage prior to the evening concert.
